Saturday morning I took the kids on a hike through Broadmoor and we found this amazing tree that has been eaten away by a very industrious beaver.
Stella was especially excited because she has an imaginary house, the "Swamp House," where all sorts of interesting things happen. The Swamp House is painted green (her favorite color), and kitty (her beloved stuffed animal) and his family live there, along with a beaver who has been building a concrete fountain for her for several months. It is almost done, apparently, and looks like no other fountain any of us have ever seen. Another busy beaver. I think I might get all sorts of new hits on this blog for saying beaver so many times. Beaver.
When we came home we made hamentashen because Purim was on Sunday.
Poppy seed filling, called mohn, is my favorite. We've made it from scratch before, but Solo makes a great canned poppy filling, too. Yum.

Abby,
How generous of you to offer free patterns. Thank you so much.
I’ve made only one stuffed animal. He’s a Vogue rabbit I made for my husband when we were dating. He’s dressed in a pin striped men’s suiting with a silk tie. We still have him.
Right now I’m on a pillow kick using purchased pillow forms. Removable forms so the covers can be washed is an attractive feature. I’ll make my own pillow forms if I have to but I prefer to put my efforts into the art quilt covers of my own design. Appliqué, reverse appliqué, fusing, machine and hand quilting, hand embroidery, beading, I’ll do whatever I think it needs to enhance the design.
The pillow I’m working on now is a 24″ cover with a big blue bird sitting on a tree branch. The tree trunk has a heart with the initials of the recipients “carved” (reverse appliqué) into it. The leaves will be 3D, applied after the hand work and quilting are finished.
I’ll be enlarging your pattern and turning it into a pillow. I can’t wait to get started on it.
Thanks again,
Charleen
