Man this guy took forever to stuff.
I found this fabric at a church rummage sale on Saturday. It is some kind of wool-polyester blend, probably originally intended for making a women's suit jacket. It just looked like a snake to me. I couldn't resist. And it was 25 cents for two yards.

So funny – I wanted to make a snake the other day and was trying to decide how to make him. Did you cut the fabric with a curve at all or did you just use a plyable fabric to be able to coil him up like this? Adorable!
Do you have a book out – because if not, you need to write one, so I can buy it 🙂

He’s a cutie–got lots of character! Love the fabric! 🙂 I’ve created a pair of worms (boyfriend and girlfriend–one of the first posts on my blog). They’re not coiled, so they didn’t take as long to stuff–thankfully! 🙂

Thanks, I do have a book out – The Artful Bird – and I have a second one coming out in the spring of 2013 about soft toy design.

I did cut the fabric in a circle. I traced the top of my trash can and then made a big spiral. Then I made a head with a gusset and two darts and an open mouth.
